Moto 360 and Moto X to launch in Australia in October

Motorola's Moto 360 smartwatch and Moto X flagship smartphone and both scheduled to arrive in Australian stores by the end of October, according to John Demezieres, Motorola Mobility's local head. Demezieres could not yet confirm a specific date or a price point for either device.

The eagerly anticipated Moto 360 sold out within hours of going on sale in the United States, retailing for USD$249.99.

The new Moto X now features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 2.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 2300mAH battery. The phone runs on a slightly modified version of Android 4.4.4, which will ensure a timely update to Android L, according to Demezieres.

We also had the opportunity to briefly get some hands on time with Motorola's latest devices. Motorola's use of premium materials such as bamboo and leather the Moto X's back help differentiate it from the increasing number of high-quality Android flagships, and the Moto 360 is certainly in a league of its own when it comes to commercially available smartwatches.

We're eager to get more time with both devices, and we're aiming to have reviews as soon as the devices are locally available.
