Microsoft’s holographic goggles are the company’s most exciting tech in years

Microsoft today announced the HoloLens, the world's first untethered holographic computing platform. While the HoloLens takes the form of a headset similar to the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, it is a stand-alone, self-contained device; the HoloLens is wire-free, and doesn't require a smartphone or connection to a PC to power it.
