Peripheral manufacturer Mad Catz will be expanding its product line as it announces its own gaming console at E3 this week. The console is called M.O.J.O and is designed to work with the company’s existing GameStart peripherals. The device is Android-based and will effectively serve as competition for Ouya and the Gamestick.

There’s little information about the hardware that will power M.O.J.O but it will reportedly have the ability to play different movies, music and other forms of digital media although it remains unclear how the device will handle these data.

The console will ship with the Mad Catz C.T.R.L wireless gamepad, which uses standard Bluetooth and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity to provide low-latency and improved battery life. Although the C.T.R.L. gamepad doesn’t feature a touch pad, it has a “mouse mode” which will allow users to play games designed for a touchscreen.

There’s also no information on when the console will start to ship, but nevertheless it’s quite interesting how M.O.J.O and the two other Android-based gaming consoles will face-off once they all become commercially available.
