Logitech is stepping up its game with the launch of its new Harmony Touch universal remote that comes complete with a built-in 2.4-inch touchscreen.

The Harmony Touch is the successor to the Harmony One. Programmable gestures allow users to swipe left and right on the touchscreen to trigger rewind/fast forward controls and can tap the screen for play/pause, just like on many smartphone or tablet remote apps.

The device can store up to 50 channels and works with 225,000 devices from 5,000 different brands and can control 15 different devices. It is even compatible with the Xbox 360.

In addition, its low-profile keys are backlit so you don’t have to use a night light in the dark.

It will start to hit shelves in the U.S. and Europe in October 2012 and can be bought on Logitech’s online website for US$249.99.
