Rumours have spread over the internet that the professional social media website, LinkedIn is planning to acquire news reader mobile app, Pulse.

Other reports have also cited that other companies including Microsoft, Yahoo, Amazon and even Facebook has showed interest in purchasing Pulse but it would seem that LinkedIn is the closest company in closing a deal. And although neither company has revealed any information about the acquisition, reports suggest that LinkedIn maybe paying anywhere between $50 million and $100 million for Pulse.

LinkedIn is slowly building its news page get their users to come back to the site every day for a fix of news. In addition, Linkedin has started partnering with Industry leaders, to get them to write exclusive content for their followers within the network.

The acquisition of Pulse would not only provide reliable content to LinkedIn, but at the same time, the apps 20 million active users that are spread over 190 countries will also provide the networking site with a built-in audience that they can tap to get more users and followers.
