Owners of LG's 2014 range of WebOS Smart TVs will receive a free update to WebOS 2.0 later this month. While the update doesn't have all of WebOS 2.0's new features, it has four of the larger additions: My Channels, Quick Settings, Input Picker, and Live Menu.
"LG is dedicated to providing the best user experience for the life of our smart TVs," said LG's head of TVs and monitors Lee In-kyu. "A free upgrade of this scale is unprecedented in the smart TV industry and we’re proud to be setting a new standard for smart TV ownership."
WebOS 2.0's features provide the following new functionality:
- My Channels allows users to pin their favourite TV channels to the launcher bar for quicker access
- Quick Settings provides a smaller settings menu with less intrusive access to commonly used settings
- Input Picker allows connected to devices to be recognised instantly "for immediate use".
- The revamped Live Menu gives the channel list a new modern look and provides more detailed information about programming.
LG says the update to WebOS 2.0 should also deliver faster performance when accessing settings and opening applications.
LG's 2014 WebOS Smart TVs will start receiving the update from September 21.
