LG is set to release a smaller version of its whopping 84-inch Ultra High-Definition televisions. The new versions will be 55-inch, and have most of the bells and whistles of its bigger brother.

This will mean that the everyman will now be able to buy a television with the highest resolution in a size that is more affordable than the current price tag of $15,000+ for the only model currently available.

Released in August 2012, the Ultra High Definition television took viewing to a whole new level as it came with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and the huge 84-inch screen. However, with cost being a barrier to most people purchasing one, even after first adaptors had bought the units, it was only a matter of time before smaller, more cost-effective versions would become available.

There will also be a 65-inch version coming, too. LG says that all its Ultra HD TVs feature the LG Resolution Upscaler Plus, which is said to improve lower resolution visual media content offering greater detailed content for early-adopters who want a detailed larger screen viewing experience.

RRP
55-inch $6,999
