LG is reportedly already working on a successor for the recently released Optimus G, with launch date slated for May 2013.

A report claimed that "sources in the industry" had caught wind of an LG Optimus G successor, referred to as the Optimus G2.

The LG Optimus G2 could launch as early as May, six months earlier than LG had previously planned to unveil the device.

Moreover, the LG Optimus G2 could launch with a new version of Android 5.0: Key Lime Pie.

The LG Optimus G2 will feature  a 5-inch "full HD" 440 ppi display that will be "1.5 times clearer than Retina display of Apple's iPhone and five to six times clearer than a 40 inch, full HD TV.” The Optimus G successor could also feature a 2GHz quad-core Qualcomm chip.

If the new device is real, it could be LG’s racing horse against Sony's rumoured 1080p Odin smartphone.
