LG Electronics has unveiled its latest mobile handset, the Optimus G, which is claimed to be the first LTE (4G) device featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-Core processor.
The smartphone will be the first commercially available device to apply the Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) Quad-Core processor with LTE (4G) supported capabilities – delivering a mobile experience for voice, web browsing, games, user interfaces and other graphic applications.
With its processor design, the device is equipped with Asynchronous Symmetric Multiprocessing (aSMP) to maximise battery life and an Adreno 320 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to deliver consol quality graphics performance on the handsets HD display.
With help from LG Display, the Optimus G sports a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS+ LCD Display with 320ppi high pixel density (1280×768 pixels) and a Stripe RGB IPS Panel with 15:9 aspect ratio.
Optimus G will be the first smartphone to be equipped with LG Innotek and LG Display’s newly developed G2 Touch Hybrid Display for touchscreen panels (TSP). The G2 Touch Hybrid Display is thinner than current LG TSPs and offers a slim panel display with little or no diffused reflection for clearer and sharper visibility, even outdoors. Due to the new technology, the thickness of the screen panel has been reduced by approximately 30 percent and the screen itself is much stronger to withstand damage from impact.
To provide more power capacity and prolonged charging cycles, LG Chem developed a high-density 2,100mAh battery. The new battery technology extends the battery lifespan to 800 cycles, which is greater than the typical lifespan of 500 cycles. It also has a 8 megapixel camera for picture and video-taking.
The design of Optimus G has a 8.45mm slim body as well as premium real glass used for its front and back covers with a polarised glass pattern. It also has a classic design with minimal gaps in the hardware components thanks to its battery-embedded unibody construction. The slim 3mm bezel and a beautiful jet black front display offer a classic and stylish appearance that will appeal to the most discerning consumer.
