Lenovo Planning To Acquire HTC

Following BlackBerry’s announcement a few weeks ago about its intention to sell, it looks like another tech company is considering taking the same path.

Taiwan’s Apple Daily reports that Lenovo might be planning to buy HTC. The two companies have been in talks since August over the terms of a possible acquisition deal or partnership to be completed in the first half of 2014.

As always, both companies have declined to give a statement about the rumour, but given HTC’s current financial standing, it would be more practical for the company to consider an acquisition rather than risk more losses in the future.

Aside from below projection sales figures, the Taiwanese manufacturer has encountered a number of problems in the past few months including supply bottlenecks and patent infringements. And only last week, the company announced the end of its partnership with Beats Audio.
