Leap Motion has announced that the company needs more time to beta test the software for its motion sensing controller for Windows and Mac.

Leap motion started taking pre-orders earlier this year and announced that they will ship the first batch of controllers by May 13. However, according to the company’s CEO Michael Buckwald, this shipping date will be moved to July 22 in order for the company to perform a new round of beta testing.

Leap motion did stress though that the delay has nothing to do with the device’s hardware and the tests will focus on improving the software user experience. Buckwald also stated that this will be the first and only delay for Leap Motion and emphasized that the delay will not affect its contracts with HP and Asus.

From its first press release, the device’s camera can be ordered through the company’s website or through Best Buy as an exclusive retail deal for the Leap Motion controller, and will begin carrying it in stores a little later starting May 19. You can already pre-order the Leap Motion controller for $79.99 on the company’s website.
