iOS8 now available

Apple today released iOS8, the latest version of its iPhone and iPad operating system. iOS8 continues to refine the sweeping changes Apple introduced in iOS7, and introduces long awaited features such as widgets, custom keyboards and quicker messaging.

Users can download iOS by navigating to their phones’ Settings menu, going to the General tab, and selecting Software Update. The update can also be downloaded by connecting the device to the latest version of iTunes.

iOS8 is compatible with iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display and 5th generation iPod touch. Those on devices with less than 16GB of storage may find themselves needing to delete a few apps before installing iOS8. While previous versions of the operating system have only required 1GB of free space for the installation, iOS8 can require up to 7GB depending on the device.

We'll have a review of iOS8 out by the end of the day.

In the meantime, here are eight reasons to be excited about iOS8.
