Processors are at the very core of any gaming machine these days, and Intel is one of a few manufacturers that have given a lot of attention to gamers and their gaming rigs, so it’s not that surprising at all to see the company out another gamer-focused CPU.

This week at the Game Developers Conference, Intel announced its 4th-generation Core-i7 Extreme edition CPU with its eight unlocked cores and 16 threads. The processor should also support the latest DDR4 memory to provide gamers with improved performance not only in gaming but also in video editing, 3D content and other high end uses.

The company also unveiled another 4th-generation Core chip codenamed “Devil’s Canyon” for those who are into overclocking CPUs. Expected to arrive in the middle of the year, this CPU features improved thermal interface and CPU packaging materials that should provide significant enhancements to performance and overclocking abilities.
