Today’s scheduled industrial action at IBM’s Baulkham Hills plant has been called off after the company has agreed to another negotiation meeting with workers.

The Australian Services Union will meet with the IBM management today. IBM workers had previously agreed to four hour rolling stoppages after IBM refused to grant them pay rises in line with inflation.

Some IBM staff had received bonuses of $4000 to not participate in the strike proceedings so that IBM could ensure that its customers were not as inconvenienced by the strike which the ASU were predicting would cause chaos for IBM clients such as Westpac and QANTAS.

It’s understood that the ASU has devised a new offer to the company. If it’s not accepted industrial action could begin as early as Friday.
