Huawei today officially announced the Ascend P6, which the company claims as the world’s thinnest smartphone measuring at just 6.18mm.

Huawei today officially announced the Ascend P6, which the company claims as the world’s thinnest smartphone measuring at just 6.18mm.

The Ascend P6 weighs just about 120g and features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch HD in-cell LCD screen and the company’s MagicTouch technology for enhanced screen responsiveness even when wearing gloves.

There’s a 5MP front-facing camera with auto facial-enhancing capabilities. At the back of the device sits an 8MP camera which is capable of capturing 1080p videos. The phone also features the company’s Emotion UI which includes updates to Uni-Home including enhanced security, Huawei’s Me Widget, SmartReading, panoramic shoot and facial recognition photography function.

Huawei has also added its unique Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX) and Quick Power Control (QPC) battery optimisation and power saving technology features into the Ascend P6 to improve battery performance by up to 30%. There’s also a multi-screen AirSharing capability that allows users to connect a range of devices to the phone to easily share documents or projecting games on a bigger screen.

The Ascend P6 will run on Android 4.2.2 operating system and will be powered by a 2000mAh battery. It will come in black, white and pink with matching color cases and will ship to China from June, Western Europe from July with other markets soon to follow.
