HTC One M9 update to improve camera and battery life

HTC today announced a software update for its One M9 flagship smartphone will be made available for Australian users from today. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer says the patch will improve both the One M9's camera and battery life, two features the phone was criticised for when it launched in March this year.

On the camera front, HTC says the update improves the rear shooter's dynamic range and auto exposure balance. Theoretically, this should result in more detailed images with greater colour accuracy, and improve low-light performance.

In terms of battery, overall improvements have been made to reduce the power consumption of social media apps including Facebook, YouTube and Skype. HTC also says it has improved the phone's charging software, meaning the One M9 should stay cooler when plugged in.

The 536MB update should already be available for most Australian One M9 users, regardless of whether they purchased it through a local telco or outright.
