HTC this morning confirmed the announcement of a Windows Phone version of their HTC One M8 flagship smartphone. The device, known as the HTC One M8 for Windows, is almost identical to its Android counterpart – it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the same 5-inch 1080p screen, the same 2 gigabytes of RAM and the same 32 gigabytes of storage. Aside from the operating system, the biggest difference is a Windows Phone logo adorning the One M8’s back.

The HTC One M8 for Windows is HTC’s first Windows Phone offering since the HTC 8X, and only competitor to Nokia in the Windows Phone flagship arena.

In the United States, the One M8 for Windows will cost USD$99 on a two-year contract, and USD$600 outright. While the smartphone is already available for purchase in the US, no announcements have been made been made in regards to Australian launch.
