HTC’s and Beats Audio’s partnership may soon come to an end as reports from the Wall Street Journal indicate that Beats Audio is thinking of purchasing the former’s stake in the company.
According to the WSJ, Beats is currently in talks with another investor that can help the company from its financial woes by providing debt financing and possibly take a minority ownership in the company in the future.
At present, HTC has a 25% stake in Beats Audio. Both companies have declined to give a comment about the issue, with Beats Audio keeping a tight lid with regards to the upcoming investment while HTC is also keeping it quiet if the company will be selling its shares.
HTC has often used its partnership with Beats Audio as a selling point when marketing its phones, so it’s quite interesting how the Taiwanese manufacturer will handle another unfortunate circumstance given the fact that the company has already faced a series of bad luck from the departure of high-level executives to low sales performance of its flagship device against major competition like Samsung.
