HP Redesigns The Home Printer

  • Can print files from anywhere in the world
  • World's first PVC-free printer
  • Can send documents to print via HP smartphone app

HP has a new line-up of web-connected, ePrint-enabled Photosmart printers that are designed for home use, with a range of features that are designed to ease operation of your home office.

There is the HP Envy e-All-in-One – an AiO designed to fit the modern lifestyle. This printer is claimed to make an elegant addition to any room in the home and offers the most convenient way to wirelessly print documents and photos. It is also the world’s first PVC-free printer.

The new HP Photosmart eStation features a detachable, seven-inch, full-colour touchscreen and doubles as a wireless digital companion and control panel for remote printing. The eStation also offers web browsing capability with high performance printing, copying, scanning and faxing without a phone line.

Key features of the new line-up include:

  • HP ePrint which allows users to harness the power of the cloud to print the files they want from anywhere in the world using the laptop or mobile devices.
  • Touch-enabled Photosmart printers with content available with the sweep of a finger via an intuitive touch screen panel.
  • AirPrint technology for Apple devices, which automatically finds printers on local networks and can print text, photos and graphics to them wirelessly over Wi-Fi.

The HP Envy provides a touchscreen display with the highest resolution of all HP printers. Users can also produce web prints without a PC, and print anywhere, anytime, using apps and HP ePrint. What’s more, the Envy e-All-in-One is the world's first PVC-free printer.

The new HP Photosmart eStation is a full-featured e-All-in-One that boasts a detachable touchscreen for easy access to web content. HP eStation includes apps like eReader, Snapfish, Facebook, music, email and news. The HP Photosmart eStation also features web-based faxing and a Fallingwater-inspired design.

Users can also do deluxe photo printing with the HP Photosmart eStation’s 5-ink IIC, auto photo paper tray, HP Photo Creations and HP Print Gadget. Every HP Photosmart web-connected and cloud print-enabled printer will have a unique simple email address that allows the sender to deliver a print the same way they would send an email message.

Customers also can send documents to print through an HP ePrint mobile app on their smartphone device to a home, office or public print location. Customers will be able to send Microsoft Office documents, Adobe PDFs and JPEG image files, among others. Printers will also be compatible with the beta version of Apple’s new AirPrint technology, which allows wireless printing from iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices.

AirPrint automatically finds printers on local networks and can print text, photos and graphics to them wirelessly over Wi-Fi without the need to install drivers or download software. HP’s existing and upcoming ePrint enabled printers will be the first to support printing directly from Apple iOS devices.
