Heath Ledger wins Golden Globe

Heath Ledger won a post humous award for his work in The Dark Knight – picking up a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor at this year’s ceremony.

Heath Ledger won a post humous award for his work in The Dark Knight – picking up a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor at this year’s ceremony for his portrayal of The Joker.

The win prompted a standing ovation from the audience and was accepted on Ledger’s behalf by the film’s director Chris Nolanwho commented:

“All of us who worked with Heath on ‘The Dark Knight’ accept with an awful mixture of sadness but incredible pride… After Heath passed, you saw a hole ripped in the future of cinema. He will be eternally missed, but he’ll never be forgotten.”

UK director Danny Boyle has also picked up a gong for his film Slumdog Millionaire and Kate Winslet has scored the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work on The Reader. Winslett is also nominated for a Best Actress Award up against heavyweights such as Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie.
