Making calls in a smartwatch is one of a few features that only a few brands have achieved. Aside from issues regarding battery life and form factor, one good reason why such feature hasn’t made it to majority of the smartwatches in the market today is that a lot of people still find talking to a watch during a call awkward. That’s why a startup company has decided to take the smartwatch technology into a device that has been in use for years now.

Headwatch is a new smartwatch concept that features a detachable body that can be converted as a headset. As a smartwatch, the Headwatch sports an LCD display, accelerometer, Bluetooth, a touchscreen panel, a temperature sensor, light sensor and notification strip lights. It will be able to read messages and features replaceable straps.

Although calls can be made on the device when it is in watch mode, those who are looking for a bit more privacy can simply detach the device from its straps and pull out the hook that hangs the device on your ear to make a headset.

The Headwatch is currently seeking funds through Indiegogo. It’s asking $300,000 in order to develop and start the production of the device, so those interested can head to its campaign page using this link.
