Rockstar games have finally announced that the fifth instalment in their popular GTA series, Grand Theft Auto V, will be landing in Australia and New Zealand in Autumn of next year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The Grand Theft Auto series has been very popular amongst gamers all over the world. It is one of the most controversial franchises in video games – due to the game’s exploration of strong adult themes such as extreme violence and crime.
The news finally puts a rest on months of teasers and speculation. The open-world game will be set in a fictionalised city called Los Santos, based on parts of Los Angeles and Southern California.
"Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we've learned about open world game design," says Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games "We can't wait to share it with fans."
It is very likely that the game will be released in May next year considering Rockstar’s history. The company has previously released a number of titles during this month in recent years, including 2010 Western adventure Red Dead Redemption, 2011 crime drama L.A. Noire and this year's Max Payne 3.
