GoPro announces three new cameras, including its cheapest yet

GoPro today announced three new entries in its range of rugged action cameras: the Hero4 Black, Hero4 Silver and a new entry level product simply called the Hero.

The Hero4 Black and Hero4 Silver and GoPro's two new high-end models. The Hero4 Black is able to able to record 4K footage at 30 frames per second (fps), 2.7K video at 50 fps and 1080p video at 120 fps. The Hero4 Black will retail for AUD$679.

The Hero4 Silver trades faster frame-rates and higher resolutions for a touchscreen display and on-screen playback functionality. It can shoot 1080p video at 60 fps and 720p video at 120 fps and will retail for AUD$549.

Both the Black and Silver Hero4 models have built in WiFi, are waterproof to 40 metres and can shoot 12 megapixel stills at 30 fps.

GoPro also announced its cheapest camera yet: the Hero. The Hero is a bare-bones version of the company's action cameras, omitting functionality such as Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. It can shoot 1080p video at 30 fps, and 720p video at 60 fps. As with the Hero4 models, the Hero is waterproof to 40 metres. The Hero will retail for AUD$129.

All three cameras will be available from October 5 via www.gopro.com and select retailers.
