Google might be working on something that will help frequent travellers to communicate when abroad. In an interview on The UK Times, Android VP Hugo Barra provided some details on one of the company’s projects that will instantly translate words from one language to another.

Moreover, Hugo Barra also mentioned that the company already has several working prototypes in the form of mobile phones that are already working in “near-perfect” accuracy, especially in certain language combinations.

However, he also said that although the project is making ground, they have only tested the system in controlled environments where background noise interference is eliminated. By the looks of it, this system is currently far from seeing the light of day anytime soon. Nevertheless, it’s quite a good start in achieving a better translating tool for the language-divided world.
