After almost a year in Beta, it appears that Google is starting to prepare the Glass for mainstream consumption.
Reports say that the search giant is now partnering with a number of different companies for Glass accessories. The company has also published a few pages showing details on how the smart glasses will be charged and possible add-ons that user will be able to use in the future once the device becomes commercially available.
The said accessories include an earbud component that will be connected to the device via a mini USB port. The mono earbud will allegedly feature interchangeable caps that will come in different colours. Moreover, the same USB port that attaches the earbud will also be used for charging the glass on a laptop or computer.
Google is also reportedly working with Maui Jim and Zeal Optics to include a pair of attachable sun glass shades. Rumours also abound that clear protective shields as well as swappable frames will be available for the Glass.
There are not a lot of details with regards to the pricing of the device or its accessories, but the mere idea that the device will support accessories and customisation does add another layer of appeal to wearable technologies.
