According to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, Google’s smartwatch might be coming in a few months as the search giant is already in talks with Asian suppliers to begin mass production of the device.

The new smartwatch will of course run on Android and will be integrated with Google Now. WSJ sources also add that Google is currently working on improving the device’s power consumption so it won’t require frequent battery charges – a common complaint with existing smartwatches. The watch will likely communicate with other smart devices such as smartphones and tablets via Bluetooth and will draw information such as travel schedules, calendar events and contacts using the user’s email through Google Now.

The Google Smartwatch will face competition from the likes of the Galaxy Gear from Samsung, Sony’s Smartwatch 2 and possibly one coming from Apple in the very near future. Nonetheless, the arrival of a Google Smartwatch will certainly cement the search giants hold in the tech space especially now that wearable technology is finally getting some traction to consumers and current innovations have allowed the technology to somehow be within reach of ordinary consumers.

But in case Google’s smartwatch fails to impress consumers, the company can still bet on its HUD Google Glass, which was redesigned to work with future shades and prescription frames.
