Google has finally made official their note-taking app that many consider as a rival to Evernote – Google Keep.

The app is now available on Google Drive and in the Android Play Store for free. Key features of Google Keep include the ability to quickly jot down notes, reminders of lists, a transcription tool that will turn voice memos into text and integration of tasks into Gmail.

Users can also organize notes in multiple colours or can also be archived or deleted when no longer needed. For the Android app, a homescreen widget is also included to enable easier note-taking. There’s also a checklist function that adds checkboxes into notes.

Keep is also integrated into Google’s existing portfolio, but surprisingly with limited functionality (at least for the moment). For instance, users are able to upload images on Google but images can’t be pulled in from Google Plus. There is also no social feature included in the app, so sharing through Facebook or Twitter isn’t possible for now.
