Google Plus users will now be able to enjoy the benefit of photo filters and a few photo editing tools within the social network’s iOS and Android apps.

With the popularity of photo-sharing and social networking site Instagram, Google Plus has jumped into the photo filter bandwagon just like other networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. The photo editing feature of the Google Plus app comes from the company’s recent previous acquisition of Instagram competitor Snapseed.

Aside from having access to a number of photo filters, users can also perform simple crops, rotations and image adjustments for contrast, brightness and saturation through the Snapseed app’s in-image sliding tool.

Android users will also have the additional benefit of improved display of posts. To be specific, posts on the Android version of the app will feature more text and uncropped image previews with easier access to the plus one button. Users will also have the ability to swipe through photo albums inline.

Other notable features of the update include the ability to share location with specific circles, the ability to adjust the volume of community posts in Home stream and the option to invite people to a community or re-share items within a community.

The new versions of the apps are now available in the Apple App store and on Google Play.
