GoCatch, the company that launched the first Australia-wide mobile payment system for passengers to pay for taxi fares using their smartphone, has now brought PayPal into the fold for its services.

The latest functionality is part of goCatch’s continued investment in improving the taxi experience for passengers and drivers in Australia. Passengers can use goCatch to view taxis, order and track their taxi; and now they can now pay for their taxi using their phone as well.

Andrew Campbell, co-founder, goCatch said: “By integrating PayPal, consumers and taxi drivers will be able to make and accept payments conveniently and efficiently at a much reduced merchant rate, through a known and trusted brand. Payments can be made in as little as two taps and receipts are conveniently sent by email.”

The partnership with PayPal provides customers with a level of assurance that their payments are done in a secure and private fashion and allows them to access money from their credit cards and bank accounts to pay for their taxi fare.

The goCatch payment functionality will first be introduced to passengers using the iPhone version with Android and Windows Phone versions to follow at a later date.
