The Samsung Galaxy S4 is probably one of the most talked about handset for the first quarter of 2012. Arguably, the S4 is also one of the most capable and powerful Android device in the market right now if we are to look at its specs sheet with only a handful of phones able to go head-to-head with it in terms of its hardware and software.

However, another dimension of success that most people tend to overlook is the support of the product’s related industry. In the case of the Galaxy S4 this dimension for success can be observed on how much developers and mobile phone accessory manufacturers will support the handset.

On the developer side of the equation, we already know that the Galaxy S4 received high marks from top developers such as Steve Kondik, founder of popular custom firmware developer for Android, who said that the device blows the competition out of the water even mentioning benchmark scores to compare the device with its competition.

In terms of accessories compatible with this device, Samsung has already created a specific set of accessories to work with the phone, specifically in relation to its S-health feature. These include a Heart Rate Monitor, a body scale and the Samsung S Band. There’s also a Game Pad who want to transform their devices into a handheld gaming console and an array of protective cases, flip covers and pouches for the S4.

As for third party accessories, there are several companies that offer compatible cases and covers for the Samsung Galaxy S4 including Griffin technology, Tech 21 and their impactology cases and iLuv’s set of leather and leatherette cases that offers protection at the same time additional functionality either as a wallet or a kick stand.

Of course compared to the vast collection of iPhone-related merchandise currently available in the market, the number of compatible accessories for the Galaxy S4 is miles apart from that of Apple’s. However it’s good to note that the Galaxy S4 hasn’t been distributed worldwide yet and given the fact that there are already a number of accessories available for the handset, it’s already looking pretty good for Samsung at least in terms of aftermarket products for the Galaxy S4.
