The hype of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will surely die down soon as its recent launch reveals it to be a complete downgrade from its bigger sibling.

The S3 Mini launched yesterday. It has a 4-inch screen at 800×480 pixels, at 233ppi, down from 306ppi on the original galaxy. The processor is a dual-core unit clocked at 1GHz, down from the from the quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor on the international version. RAM is downgraded from 2GB to 1GB, the battery from 2100mAh to 1500mAh, and the camera downgraded from 8MP to 5MP.

With all the downgrades, I wonder why it is even called a Galaxy S3 Mini, probably just to piggy-back on the success of the Galaxy S3.

The only good thing here is that the Galaxy S III Mini will be launching with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

No news yet on when the device will launch in Australia or anywhere else.
