Recent reports coming from South Korea indicates that the next Galaxy Note III will be powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line SoC (System on Chip) – the Snapdragon 800.

It’s unsure why Samsung would opt to give the Note III a Qualcomm chip instead of its in-house Exynos Octa chip, but one reason could be that Samsung is still having some problems manufacturing the component. Moreover, the Snapdragon 800 already comes with built-in LTE radio that makes the chip more economical to use in contrast to the Exynos which needs third party LTE hardware.

The new Snapdragon 800 features a quad-core Krait processor which can be clocked up to 2.3GHz, Adreno 330 GPU and will support 4K video playback. The Note III on the other hand is expected to launch during the company’s Unpacked event in Berlin this September.
