Samsung Electronics Australia is offering two free mobile applications to customers who update their Samsung Galaxy S to Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Samsung is offering its Galaxy S customers turn-by-turn navigation by Navigon, valued at $89, and a new Press Reader application.

Customers will receive Navigon’s turn-by-turn navigation, the Samsung Galaxy S transforms into a navigation device. Using Australian and New Zealand maps from Navteq, Navigon delivers 2D and 3D map views, turn-by-turn voice guidance, drive and walk modes and intelligent address search. In addition, the application features Reality View Pro for photo-realistic displays of directions and Google Local Search for the most up to date point of interest search results.

The Samsung Galaxy S will also have access to the Press Reader application made available through Samsung Apps. Through Press Reader, users will be able to receive local and international news media directly to their smartphone. Users will have the opportunity to subscribe to over 1600 newspapers, both global and local, in over 47 languages, delivered daily to the Samsung Galaxy S for as little as $0.99 per newspaper. 

Features of the app include Press Reader optimisation and integration, easy-to-use page viewing, page view jumping, easy listening (streaming), sharing and virtual bookmarking. The Press Reader application complements the e-book reader app, Borders E-Books, already available through the Samsung Galaxy S.

This handset will also support Adobe Flash Player 10.0, and has enhanced Exchange support, including remote wipe, Exchange calendar sync, auto discovery and the ability to search global address lists.
