Formspring founder and CEO Ade Olonoh announced over the weekend that the Q&A site will be closing its doors come March 31st and have allowed users until April 15th to export all their data before the website completely closes.

Formspring which is an interest-based social Q&A website was launched in November 2009 and allowed users to relate their ideas and opinions on any topic. The site allows its users to set up a profile page, follow other users, post questions and of course answer other user’s questions.

In a blog post, the company’s CEO stated that although Formspring may have been the first of its kind during its launch around 4 or 5 years ago, a lot of its services have been replicated by larger websites such as Tumblr. And even though they tried to keep ends meet by rebranding itself in 2012, it still wasn’t enough to keep the website afloat.

Moreover, Olonoh thanked all the members of the site in making the site better by asking questions and posting responses and took note of the community that Fomspring has built over the years.

For those who are interested in exporting the responses they’ve posted on the site, users will need to login their account and use the export tool provided by the website. Once the export is ready, a user will receive an email and then be provided by a zip file containing all their data.
