Former Windows executive Charlie Kindel announced yesterday that he will now be joining Amazon for a “Something Secret” project.

The announcement which was made during April 1 sounded a lot like an April fool’s prank with Kindel jokingly saying that he and Amazon were making a home server product called the Amazon Kindle Charlie. Although the Home server project was a complete joke, the announcement of his transfer to Amazon wasn’t.

Kindel was also very secretive about his future plans at the company and refuses to reveal any information about the project that he’ll be working on in the future. However, a post on his LinkedIn Profile hints at what kind of work he’ll be doing in Amazon. According to the post, Kindel will be building a new team which will go after a totally new area for Amazon. He also added that he’ll need cloud and mobile developers and testers, program managers, and product managers.

Kindel had previously worked with Microsoft for developing the Windows Home Server and Windows Phone 7 application platform and developer experience. Having said this, a lot of people are now speculating that Kindel’s transfer to Amazon may be related to the development of the long-rumoured Amazon smartphone.
