Fitness bands and smartwatches are a dime a dozen these days, and so far the only thing we’ve heard consumers complain about are technical issues such as poor battery life, lousy user interface or poor screen visibility. That is with the exception of those who bought a Fitbit Force fitness band.

Last month, the San Francisco-based company has received numerous reports from consumers about their Fitbit Force fitness band causing skin irritations – mostly blistering. The company has since then pulled out the Fitbit Force from stores and has issued a directive to provide a full refund to consumers who would want to return their product.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company has received around 9900 reports of skin irritation and around 250 reports of blistering. Its most recent product recall affects around 1 million units in the US and around 28,000 units in Canada. Unfortunately, there is no mention on units that were shipped abroad (such as those that were sold in Australia).
