Firefox Hits One Billion

Browser hits one billion downloads after five years on the market

Firefox passed its one billionth download this weekend, which is pretty good considering it was launched only five years ago.

With approximately 31 percent of the marketshare (and claimed to be the world’s favourite tech browser), it has caused Microsoft to make changes to Internet Explorer, and showed Google – who recently released Chrome – that going up against the big boys in the browser market is possible.

The new version, Firefox 4.0, is said to be even more user-friendly than the previous version, with its Go/Stop/Refresh button merged. Should be interesting…
