Fast Cards For Photographers

  • 168MB/s shooting speed
  • Recover deleted pics
  • Transfer times reduced by 30 percent

Sony’s new S Series of memory cards are able to process at speeds of up to 168 MB/s, which means they can record up to 108frames in RAW format on continuous shooting mode, ensuring that photographers never miss a moment. P

Photographers can shoot a 100m sprint from start to finish in a single, sustained burst of RAW images at a shooting speed of 10 frames per second.

It is claimed they reduce transfer times by 30 per cent when compared with the fastest CF cards. This makes the S Series suitable for photo enthusiasts and professional sports photographers who demand quick and easy photo data back-up.

The card’s 64GB means you can store large volumes of data-heavy RAW files, so they are suitable for sports photographers who may be triggering the camera’s shutter remotely and cannot change media cards. A new device driver for Thunderbolt compatible devices will be available for download from August 2012 and will allow users to transfer files to their Macintosh computer systems at even quicker speeds, when used with a compatible card reader.

From August, XQD S Series users can also download a free new version of File Rescue (Ver 3.2) software by Sony for the recovery of accidentally-deleted photos and videos. This advanced and easy-to-use utility supports the latest file formats of AVCHD and 3D[4] has recently expanded its capabilities to support RAW3 and MOV files. File Rescue software is also available for XQD H Series users.
