After rumours of a sympathise button, it looks like Facebook might be adding yet another button on its website in its goal to get more information from its user base.
The new button will allow users to donate to select non-profit organisations including UNICEF, Girls Inc., The World Wildlife Fund, etc. The donate button will be placed next to News Feed posts and at the top of groups’ Facebook pages. Once a user clicks on the Donate button, they can enter the amount they want to give and then input their payment information afterwards.
Users can also share their non-profit posts with their friends and help spread the word about the cause of their supported organisations. At present, there are 19 participating groups, but the search giant said it’s planning to expand the list soon.
Aside from helping various groups through monetary donations, Facebook will be able to acquire more information (specifically those involving money – like credit card information) about its users. For those weary about inputting such sensitive information online, an option to delete credit card information can be done from their payment account settings.
