According to Rob Shilkin of Google Australia the prcess only takes a few minutes to initiate although it may take a couple of days for your request to be processed depending on demand.

“The owner or the occupier can request for the image to be removed,” Mr Shilkin said in an interview with the Courier Mail. “Look for Street View ‘help’, and click on that and you will see ‘report image’.

“There have been a few requests from people in Australia.”

In the US many stars have had their homes wiped from Street View and entire blocks of popular shopping precinct Rodeo Drive have been removed. Although star spotters are still able to spy on a number of movie and TV locations including the site of old school iconic TV shows such as The Brady Bunch and Happy Days.
