Microsoft has just released a teaser image for the release of the next generation graphics API for Windows – Direct X 12.

The teaser image shows the logos of AMD, Intel, Nvidia and Qualcomm which obviously are Microsoft’s partner companies in the implementation of the API. Earlier reports also mentioned that Microsoft is planning to match AMD’s implementation by providing a “close to the metal” access to developers just like what AMD is doing with its Project Mantle.

DirectX 12 is scheduled to be unveiled at this year’s Game Developers Conference this month. But previous reports also suggest that this initiative is a relatively new approach at Microsoft so it might be some time before the graphics API arrives on consumer products.
