Rumours about a Facebook phone has long been circulating on the internet for quite some time now. And we might see the confirmation of those rumours on Thursday as the social networking site sent out press invites that bears the announcement of the company’s reported new “home” on Android.
And today, additional information has been leaked online that sheds more light on the matter. The information courtesy of a leaked developer build of the Facebook phone software. According to the information from the developer build the alleged Facebook phone will be built by HTC and will run a modified version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
A custom home launcher will also come with the new Facebook phone. The modified launcher will display Facebook news feed content and notifications. There might also be a more standard clock screen, shortcuts for launching apps and search via Google. A new feature called “Chat Heads” will let users have chat conversations anywhere in the phone’s UI.
Another interesting concept that Facebook might use is the development of another custom home launcher that will be compatible with stock versions of Android that works with other skins from other manufacturers. Experts think that a possible option for Facebook is to get the full version of the launcher on the “HTC Facebook phone” and offer a light version for other OEMs.
