- Costs $999
- Uses the i3 Intel chiop
- i5 and i7 models coming
Acer Computer has announced its new pricing structure for the Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook series. The Aspire S3 is now available from $999, becoming the first to crack the $1,000 price barrier in Intel’s new category of thin and light laptops.
However, as the name hints, it will be with the i3 processor, which is not the top of the range from the Intel-related laptops. This means that while the price is good, the processing power is not what it could be with a higher value processor such as the i5 or i7. However, it looks like it would be suitable if you are a student or want a second laptop for the kids.
In addition, Acer will introduce a second Intel Core i5 model to its Acer Aspire S3 family that is equipped with a 500GB HDD retailing for $1,299. For the mid and top end models, Acer has also increased the storage capacity on both Intel Core i5 and Core i7 models with SSD from 240GB to 256GB with a retail price of $1,699 and $1,999 respectively.
