Google is eyeing an end of the year release to coincide with the holidays. This cheap device will launch alongside a second and more high-end Nexus, to be priced at $199.

This move from Google is in line with all the cheaper tablets hitting the market.

When and if it launches, it will be going head-to-head with the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD. The latter device is priced at $269 for a 16-gigabyte model and $199 for the 8-gigabyte iteration.

Also, the undyingly rumoured iPad mini could still potentially make an appearance in the last quarter of 2012 and may come at a $249 price point.
