CES 2016: Lenovo is building an augmented reality smartphone due to launch mid-2016

An augmented reality app that created a virtual pet within the tablet was used to demonstrate how Project Tango perceives depth. Using a feed from the development kit's camera, the app placed a kitten into the "real world". While it was stuck in the device, the kitten understood that it was, for example, on a table, and would not leave the confines of the table. Tapping the floor would cause the kitten to jump down, and navigate the larger space instead.
