Canon’s PowerShot G1 X has been sitting at the top of the company’s line of PowerShot line of point-and-shoot cameras. So Canon says it’s about time for a replacement.

Announced at this year’s CP+ trade show in Yokohama, Japan, the PowerShot G1 X Mark II boasts a 24-120mm f/2-3.9 zoom lens, a 1.5-inch sensor, Digic6 image processor, and a 3-inch LCD at the back that now tilts up and down in contrast to the G1 X’s that swings out to the side.

The camera is capable of capturing 1080/30p video but there’s no microphone or headphone jack. As with its predecessor, the G1 X Mark II still has a hot shoe that is compatible with optional accessories such as an electronic viewfinder

The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II will be available starting April for around US$800.
