Canon Offers Eco Grants

Environmental grants to be given to eco-friendly organisations

To celebrate World Environment Day this Friday June 5, Canon Australia is asking Australian businesses and community groups to submit nominations for its Canon Environmental Grants program.

Now in its fourth year, the Canon Environmental Grants recognise organisations working on projects that benefit Australia’s natural environment and reward them with product endowments to the value of $5,000 each. Five grants will be awarded in total.

One of last year’s winners, Goolwa to Wellington Local Action Planning Board (SA), is currently using the cameras provided by Canon to help them conduct high-quality photographic monitoring of lakeshore erosion and wetlands, revegetating bushlands and conducting grazing trials.

Last year’s winners of Canon Australia’s Environmental Grants represented a cross section of the community and included Northern Rivers Wildlife Carers (NSW), Wesley E-Recycling (NSW), Dolphin Research Institute (VIC), Goolwa to Wellington Local Action Planning Association (SA) and Albany Senior High School (WA).

These winners illustrate the diversity of initiatives that the Canon Environmental Grants recognise – from rescuing, recording and rehabilitating injured native wildlife and diverting e-waste from landfill, to ensuring the wellbeing of dolphins and their marine habitat.
Organisations interested in applying for the Canon Australia Environmental Grants should visit www.canon.com.au/environment for more information and to submit an online application form.

Applications close Monday 31 August 2009. The successful applicants will be notified in late September and the Canon products presented shortly afterwards.
