Pioneer two new Blu-ray Disc home theatre systems offer 1080p high-quality HD video playback, along with extensive connections including USB, iPod/iPhone, Bluetooth and DLNA, so users can enjoy video, photos and music in a wide range of formats and from various sources.

The HTZ-808BD features a tall-boy speaker design and the HTZ-606BD comes packaged with satellite speakers.

Both systems are finished in a “high-gloss” polished acrylic. The design statement is accentuated by the use of subtle white lighting for the display and, the clean layout of the front face. This includes a volume control with white illumination around it, with other key controls positioned on top of the unit.

Looks are backed by performance. Movie playback captures all the colour and detail of HD; They come with an array of surround sound formats, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential. The systems come with a range of connectivity, format support, and installation options.

Interfaces include HDMI for digital connections to HD TVs, an Ethernet connection for BD-Live and to easily link to DLNA compliant applications or storage devices, and USB and mini-jack for portable music players.

The integrated Bluetooth receiver means that consumers are able to wirelessly stream audio from any Bluetooth-enabled device, be it an iPhone, PC or the ever-increasing suite of smartphone’s hitting the Australian market, including Android.

The systems are “Works with iPhone” certified supporting iPod and iPhone out of the box with a designated cradle (included), and featuring iPod video playback. Video formats supported from USB, disc and through DLNA include DivX, DivX HD, and MKV.

With audio, all key files are supported, from WMA to MP3 and AAC, while the units’ virtual surround sound creates a richer, more rewarding sonic experience compared to small docking units. JPEG Images can also be displayed on TVs, e.g. from USB, while music can be ripped from CD to USB at speeds of 2X.

The systems include a slim, compact design for the subwoofer. With its side-facing woofer it doesn’t need to sit in the typical free-standing position, but can be located against a wall, or even under the sofa, delivering deep sound effects without diverting the eye from the action.
