A leaked test build of BlackBerry OS 10.3 popped up in YouTube today and showcases new features on the platform that are quite a bit similar to its competitors.

For starters, the operating system’s new UI features a flatter look with a lighter background, much like iOS 7. The accent colour in this version has also been changed to orange in contrast to the blue highlights on previous builds of BB OS. Furthermore, the homescreen icons are now shadow-less while the keyboard has been given a new layout and colour scheme.

The camera has also received some changes including a new timer, panorama mode, 720p video recording (both 30 and 60 fps), automatic HDR mode suggestion and a cleaner user interface.

However, the most interesting addition to the platform is a new feature called Intelligent Assistant, which is BlackBerry’s own voice assistant. At present, the feature is still a bit buggy and its capabilities are still unknown.

The released build is still in its early stages of development, so do expect a lot of features to change once it becomes officially available to BlackBerry users worldwide.
