According to news reported in the Wall Street Journal, Blackberry maker Research in Motion is set to launch a new touch screen version of the popular mobile/email device for the third quarter (making the new BlackBerry available by September).

The device – called the Thunder will be soled exclusively through Verizon Wireless in the US and is tipped to be sold through Vodafone in oversea’s territories.

Research in Motion failed to comment on the WSJ article, however as recently as February,RIM CEO Jim Balsillie said the company may bring out a touch-screen device if customers want it. A touch screen BlackBerry would diversify the company’s client base – which currently has executives and corporate users as its base.
